Facility Electrician

Expedient is a provider of cloud and data center infrastructure as a service (IaaS) solutions with local operations in Baltimore, MD; Boston, MA; Cleveland, OH; Columbus, OH; Indianapolis, IN; Memphis, TN and Pittsburgh, PA.  

We are looking to hire a full-time Facility Electrician immediately to work in our Medford/Boston data center.  Successful candidates will have previous experience with the operation of electrical systems, preferably in a data center or high tech environment, and are able to work independently and within small teams.

The position is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and operational tasks in support of data center operations. This position may be called upon outside of normal business hours if a situation comes up that requires immediate attention. This is a customer-facing role. The Facilities Electrician will represent Expedient while working with customers and vendors both on and off-site - professionalism and good verbal and written communication skills are needed.

Responsibilities

Electrical repairs and hard wiring installation of 120/240 Volt single phase circuits and 208 Volt 3 phase circuits
Partner with a wide variety of vendors; providing access to secure areas of data center, monitoring work of vendors
Monitor and repair UPS, HVAC, motors, controls, plumbing, back-up generator systems and similar equipment. Calibrate all controls for heating and air conditioning
Repair and maintenance of all aspects of the physical plant, with a focus on electrical systems
Preventive/predictive maintenance per requirements and perform non-scheduled or emergency maintenance when required to support operations
Maintain accurate records with regard to annual inspection of electrical, mechanical and heating/cooling equipment and general preventative maintenance
Analyze and solve electrical and mechanical problems which cause interruptions or otherwise limit productive capacity of all data center equipment
Maintain inventory of equipment and repair parts lists for electrical installations to ensure proper maintenance and installations are accomplished on time
Make recommendations to modify or replace equipment when necessary to support demand or improve efficiency
Organize and direct the work of maintenance or installation contractors
Maintain work areas and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe manner
Must be familiar with and strictly adhere to safety guidelines and OSHA regulations at all times

Requirements

No less than 4 years of experience in the maintenance of production equipment
No less than 5 years of experience as an electrician in a technical environment

Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with electrical systems, simple controls, and mechanical systems
Experience with maintaining and troubleshooting HVAC equipment a plus
Ability to read, comprehend and work from technical documents, blueprints, and electrical schematics
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
H.S. Diploma and Journeyman Experience or Associates Degree.  Military electricians with 5 or more years of experience are encouraged to apply

Physical Tasks

Lifting - Frequently lifts light weight items and occasionally lifts heavy weight materials such as equipment parts computer hardware and larger items 
Manual Dexterity - Ability to operate tools, to work on equipment and to do equipment installations and type emails and invoices, reports, receipts, etc. 
Standing - must be able to stand or walk for longer periods of time in order to accomplish the physical tasks of the position 
Must be able to climb and balance oneself on a ladder, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl into tight places as required
