The Operational Accountant is an entry-level role and is based in our Nova Place/Allegheny Center Mall headquarters on Pittsburgh’s North Shore. Parking is provided for our employees. Due to the Covid pandemic, we are conducting interviews via video conferencing. However, this full-time, Operational Accountant position will be required to come into the office as needed. Expedient considers the health and safety of its employees their chief priority and every effort has been made to protect our staff in the office.

We are looking for an organized and driven Operational Accountant to join our growing company. The Accountant position will work closely with our other accountants and financial operations team to handle the day-to-day accounting, accounts payables and internal reporting and processing required for the role. Expedient is fast-moving company. We are looking for someone with ambition who is willing and able to learn and grow with the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Entry-level position providing basic, general accounting support
Review vendor updates; reconcile new vendor information and any changes
Manage cash receipts & treasury support:
- Manage daily lockbox, credit card, ACH and wire payments
- Complete monthly reconciliation of bank account to client accounts
Accounts Payables
- Process checks, ACH and credit card payments to vendors and consultants
- Manage monthly close process
Provide reporting to Controller and CFO as needed
Manage employee travel
- Assist employees with travel arrangements
- Reconcile travel expenses to credit card statements
Sales tax rebates
- Manage sales tax program, pull GL details, locate and research invoice, verify data and complete refund requests by deadlines
Internal Audits
- Collect requested data and research and verify accuracy
- Assist the accounting team with various responsibilities and tasks including property tax return preparation and other tax and reporting compliance matters

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
1 to 2 years of work experience in a professional environment
Knowledge and understanding of general ledger entries and the general ledger system
Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly skilled with MS Excel
Ability to learn account systems software
Demonstrate a very strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task to complete tasks accurately and timely
Organized and a strong communicator, both verbal and written – all requirements
Mature understanding of confidentiality and discretion at all times with company financial information
Must be able to work independently, a proactive self-starter and work with the team, collaborating and working together
Ability to complete pre-employment drug screen and background screen
