Facilities Electrician Engineer

We are actively hiring for a Facilities Electrician Engineer to manage the maintenance and facilities operations of our data center in Franklin, Wisconsin.

Successful candidates will have previous experience with the maintenance and operation of electrical systems, preferably in a data center or high technology environment (preferred, not required) and are able to work independently and within small teams.

The position is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and operational tasks in support of data center operations in our Franklin, WI location. This position may be called upon outside of normal business hours if a situation comes up that requires immediate attention. This is a customer-facing role. The Facilities Electrician will represent Expedient while working with clients and vendors both on and off-site - professionalism and good verbal and written communication skills are a must.

Responsibilities of the Facilities Electrician Engineer

  • Safe, 100% uptime operation of the data center
  • Electrical repairs and hard wiring installation of 120/208 Volt circuits to include 208 Volt 3 phase circuits
  • Partner with a wide variety of vendors; providing access to secure areas of data center and monitoring work of vendors
  • Monitor and repair UPS, HVAC, motors, controls, plumbing, back-up generator systems and similar equipment. Calibrate controls for heating and air conditioning
  • Repair and maintenance of all aspects of the physical plant, with a focus on electrical systems
  • Preventive/predictive maintenance per requirements and perform non-scheduled or emergency maintenance when required to support operations
  • Maintain accurate records with regard to annual inspection of electrical, mechanical and heating/cooling equipment and general preventative maintenance
  • Analyze and solve electrical and mechanical problems which cause interruptions or otherwise limit productive capacity of all data center equipment
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and repair parts lists for electrical installations to ensure proper maintenance and installations are accomplished on time
  • Make recommendations to modify or replace equipment when necessary to support demand or improve efficiency
  • Organize, perform, and / or direct the work of maintenance or installation contractors
  • Maintain work areas and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe manner
  • Must be familiar with and strictly adhere to safety guidelines and OSHA regulations

Requirements for the Facilities Electrician Engineer

  • No less than 4 years of experience in the maintenance of production equipment
  • No less than 5 years of experience as an electrician in a technical environment
  • A cover letter must be included to explain in your own written communication style, why you are a fit for this position
  • Strong verbal communication skills - this position will exchange phone calls and direct communication with vendors, clients, and other Expedient employees across the organizations’ multiple locations
  • Strong written communication skills - this position will require the written exchange of communication with clients, vendors, and other Expedient employees across the organizations’ multiple locations
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with electrical systems, simple controls, and mechanical systems
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and work from technical documents, blueprints, and electrical schematics
  • Experience with maintaining and troubleshooting HVAC equipment a plus
  • Microsoft office and basic computer skills are not required, but are a plus
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • H.S. Diploma and Journeyman Experience or Associates Degree.  Former Lead Operating Engineers or Facilities Managers with an electrical background may be a good fit.  Military electricians with 5 or more years of service are encouraged to apply

Physical Tasks

Lifting - Frequently lifts light weight items, and occasionally lifts heavy weight materials such as equipment parts.
Manual Dexterity - Ability to operate tools, to work on equipment and to do equipment installations.
Must be able to climb and balance oneself on a ladder, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl into tight places as required.
